Response to group Idea
First things first, we had to decide a genre that was best suitable for our group. Our group chose horror/crime, this is because we decided that we all watched crime and horrors more than any other genre, also it was our groups favourite genres. We figured that it would be best to choose a genre that we will be fully committed to and more engaged to. We then developed this further by brainstorming, noting down all our ideas, combining them and designing as many different story outcomes as we possibly could. At first we were going to consider a horror as we had a very good idea, but then we wanted to indulge a detective scene into our opening sequence as we have been inspired by many openings for example Spooks etc. Our final idea we decided that a lot of victims tend to be young girls, from my research. We decided to use the idea of the typical young blonde attractive, innocent and happy teenage girl to be in the wrong place at the very wrong time. We all decided that we want to be able to have a cliff hanger in our sequence, and that we want to create a plot where the audience will be questioning what will happen next. One of the best feelings the audience get when watching a movie, is where their hopes are very high but then they immediately drop with something scary/unexpected. We decided to film somewhere dark and dangerous, and to show how the setting is important to our final idea. With the use of POV shots, we can allow the audience to drag themselves into the characters shoes, which is what our group is looking forward to. We decided to film off set, rather than on set, as our group understands the difference between them both and we prefer something natural as we see it as more effective. The idea of a murderer is used in almost every horror, but with always a different plot of some sort. The killer in our sequence, we thought it would be good to have him as someone who gets thrill out of killing people and leaving their body somewhere hoping that nobody will find out what he is up to. Somtimes people often wonder if the murderer will get away with it in the end or not, we are not going to let our audience know this, as it would easily tempt them to want to watch on. Overall, I am very happy with our group's choice and I am pretty sure we are all motivated to do our best. We also decided to make the main character unseen, so the audience don't know much about him at the start of the opening.
