Title/Credit Sequences

  • The non-diagetic music played at the start is quite mysterious and catchy. At the start there's the name of the company and then it goes onto showing the name of the important people, it tells us the producers of the music, cinematography, who the main title theme is by, and all the other production designers. The font colour is quite a pale red, bold and are in capitals. The positioning of the words are in more than one place, suiting the rhythm of the music and the action that is taking place.
  • The character introduced, we are sure is Dexter, as as soon as he wakes up the title comes up "Dexter" the name, of the main character of the film. The colour of the title is a deep dark red, with smudges of blood, and quite dirty colours, implying that perhaps Dexter has his very own labatory, or business. The close-ups of food in the sequence, tell us that Dexter has just woken up early in the morning, and this is perhaps his morning routine.
  • The appearence of the main chracter is quite nerdy, and charming, but his the camerawork, close-ups of the character's body, facial expressions give us a different opinion on him, as he seems like he has some sort of a evil side to him. The lighting is quite bright and, is definitely more brighter than natural lighting, making it easier to see what the character is doing. The POV shot of the character making his food suggests it's early in the morning.
  • The photography and music stand out most within the opening, as they are very bright. The shot of the character tying up his shoe lases and zipping up his jacket, makes us think that there's something interesting about him, that people might not know of.
  • The editing is also very important. The blur affect and flash at the start make us wonder what the character is heading towards.

  • The ending credits to this movie are very interesting compared to normal ending credits of a film. The soundtrack is a cartoon type track, and it sounds like Spiderman has almost completed his mission and passed his mission. The use of the comic like credits, also tell the person that Spiderman first originated from a comic book.
  • The editing is very complex, with amazing use of animated characters from the actual Spiderman film itself.
  • I would say the audience is definitely boys, as for all the strong characters, drawing of big muscles, and a lot of action is happening. All the villians, are being edited next to Spiderman, telling us that Spiderman has completed his mission , until the next movie of Spiderman is released.
  • The animation's are too colourful to describe, and there are many scrolling effects, showing the action which is again what boys love to watch. On the left hand side is huge paragraphs of the really important people, the credits are very long, telling us that Spiderman is a very mainstream film with important and experienced, famous actors and producers/editors.
  • The style of editing is very unique, and the music is very repetitive, speedy and harmoneous, adding to the victorious feel which fully completes the film itself.

  • At the start of the opening it starts with a black screen and then the sunset gradually fades out.
  • There's lots of black, oranges, yellows and red passionate warm colours showing that it's a romantic genre. The shimmering sunset creates a calm and relaxing atmosphere. The setting is at a lake, with a boat in the middle of it, indicating that it perhaps involves a vacation of some sort, and a romantic trip.
  • The soundtrack is very slow, and is made by high piano keys. The sound gives you a idea that this is a story filled with true love, but also implies a hint of sadness.
  • The colours connotate love and passion.
  • There aren't really any main characters in particular introduced.
  • The fade effects when they guy is on the boat, tells us that it's perhaps a journey, or that he's going on holiday somewhere. Or it could tell us that a story is being told.
  • The location is in the middle of no where, very quiet and lonesome, tells us that the location can be special and that a lot of memorable things are going to happen there during the film.
  • The birds pass by slowly adding to the peaceful feel, and they could signify the love and homely feeling.
  • The use of black and red, could maybe indicate that there's going to be a sad part in the film, and that it's not all likely going to be positive.
  • The font used is white and fancy, contrasting with the black and reds used, so it stands out. The title is small and fancy too.

  • The colour of the title sequence is quite dull and dark which is a colour to symbolise the character's youths. The dark lightening animated effect makes it seem like it's set in a dangerous urban city. Another thing about the sequence and the mise-en-scene used, the bright orange uniform stands out, and shows there is teenage crime going on in the series. Also, the graffiti used gives the audience some idea about the crime in the city, and what the characters may get up to. The uniform implies that they're paying for their wrong done.
  • The typical range of characters, have very scruffy looking teenage appearances, that perhaps some of the audience can relate to, for example there's a mixture of female and males in the community service. The black girl who is using her mobile phone, looks like the typical confident, big-mouthed teenager who won't do no messing. However, the male character who is running, looks like he's running away from doing something bad, because of the red flashing lighting could almost be the police car after him. Curtis looks like he is a fit character who can stand up for himself in a fight. The character's body language shows they're likely to be fussy when getting told what to do at the community service.
  • The animated editing makes a really cool effect, there are animated people, and shadows moving about everywhere. The editing and photography is really important for this opening title sequence. The big bold animated text saying the names of the actors/actresses and the capital title "Misfits" in white, standing out and contrasting with the urban animated look. The movement of the sequence has been edited in a way that it scrolls in almost every direction quickly. There are also many animated effects just to make it stand out more. The lighting and colours used are very significant for the themes of the series. The fast moving shows that the city is quite busy and shows how challenging the amount of effort the teenagers have to make.
  • The non-diagetic song adds to the urban feel. It's quite a mixture of rock and punk. It sounds like the sort of song a teenager would listen to. The music is quite fast paced which flows with the editing. The song is quite retro and crazy, with meaningful lyrics for the opening titles. The song can relate to anyone with a exciting out-going, or educational teenage lifestyle.
